I love the crisp look of houndstooth fabric and have used it recently on a number of pieces of refurbished upholstered furniture.  I was intrigued by its definition and history and this is what I found out:

One can easily tell houndstooth fabric by its distinctive broken checks and four pointed shapes. This fabric was traditionally woven of black and white wool in the lowlands of Scotland.
