This is the third in my week-long series on using RED, WHITE and BLUE in home decorating - and today is the 4th of July!! See my two prior blogs!
The images of red, white and blue are easy to find year-round but are particularly prevalent today. The American flag is often a component of the "patriotic" decorating style and there is sometimes controversy on how it is displayed and used.
I am also again delving into my own photo archives for Wydeven Designs (
link to website). Today, I will look at 2009 photos and show some that match this theme.
Country Living Magazine has some wonderful images that reflect this patriotic theme!

Designer Sarah Richardson decorated this master
bedroom from her summer cottage
in red and white, adding liberal hues of blue.

Country Living contributing editor
Gena Sigala gave this living room
patriotic flair with a few super-speedy makeover tips. Hint number one: Arrange
throw pillows from the outside in. Everyone knows colorful pillows are the
quickest change agents around — but how do you choose the right ones? And where
should they sit? "I start with a large, matched pair at the ends of a
sofa," Sigala says, "then work inward with smaller options in similar
shades and motifs. (NOTE - this was one of the photos that generated some controversy about the use of a flag material on the pillows)
