I Love Chaise Lounges

Vintage Chaise (SOLD)
The first chaise lounge I ever bought was immediately converted from a business piece (to be sold) to my own - once I sat on it and took a nice nap.  Now it is in my bedroom and it is my favorite place to not only nap but also to read and plan my day.  I love the rich history of chaise lounges and association with Hollywood glamour and Freudian psychoanalysis!

From humble beginnings [as far back as the 16th century], chaise lounge furniture evolved into a symbol of luxury and extravagance, and truly came of age in the 20th century. By the 1930s, chaise lounge furniture came to be associated with Hollywood glamour. Stars of the golden age of cinema, such as Jean Harlow, Gloria Swanson, and Greta Garbo, draped themselves across chaise lounges for photo shoots.  Meanwhile, Victorian-style chaise lounge furniture became a staple of Freudian psychoanalysis, as doctors around the world adopted Freud's method of having patients recline as their dreams were interpreted.

Here are some of my favorites - all are sold:
