Refurbished Casegoods - Sharing Some Great Transformations!

I have learned to love pinterest because it is such a great way to find good ideas and to share and store them - my boards have grown exponentially!  I would like to devote this blog to sharing some great case good transformations (including one of my own) using a fairly broad definition and, thereby, excluding the refurbished upholstered pieces I generally highlight and discuss.

Casegoods is a term used for furniture that is not upholstered and is made of wood. It is especially used to describe furniture that is used in the dining room and bedroom. Pieces of furniture, such as bookcases or chests of drawers, that provide interior storage space are also case goods.  source

I love all of these pieces - they are so inspirational.  I am eying all sorts of older, browner pieces in my home to see which would really benefit from this treatment.  I am particularly leaning toward the white/cream distressed look to break up and lighten-up some of my more formal spaces.  Here is a table I picked up for $25 at an estate sale several weeks back.  It is solid wood but the top was slightly scarred.  I decided to us ASCP Old Ochre - distress the edges (not top) slightly - and finish with a clear wax with two coats on top.  I like the way it turned out and how it lightens this somewhat dark space (my office/den)!
