The Sustaining Power of Sunny Yellow!

Yellow is an uplifting color. Great to stimulate intellectual curiosity!
I was wandering through my home the other day looking at all the yellow walls and wondering if it was time to change colors.  After all, I had selected this color almost eleven years ago and all the yellows were variations from the same color strip.  Spending as much time as I do looking at inspiring decorating magazines, websites, and pinterest postings, you start wondering if somehow your style should be evolving.  Just this week, I found two very comforting spreads - one in Traditional Home "Traditional Decorating in Sunny Yellow" (source) and another in Better Homes and Gardens "Yellow Bedrooms We Love" (source).  I have a pinterest board called decorating in yellow which showed me reminded me of even more wonderful images - so I have been convinced that this is still one GREAT color and the photos below show its great versatility.

The best decorating features themes that are as subtle as a texture or a shape. Round shapes in sunny yellow replay in this dining room as plates artfully arranged on the wall and in the china cabinet, and again as circles of yellow on the chair backs - Traditional Home Article - see source above.
A home office’s dark wood trim and Tudor architecture required a counterpoint of light to bring the room to life. This traditional design in the 2011 Pasadena Showcase House of Design took a soak in sunshine, with walls and ceiling painted warm yellow and windows covered in a sophisticated hand-blocked yellow fabric - Traditional Home Article - see source above.

So, it's nice to see the range of yellows and uses of yellow in home decor.

Lastly, going back to the color gurus - here's a take from the colorists at Pantone link to website

Earlier in the year, I reported on Pantene's Color of the year - Tangerine Tango was THE color for 2012 but there are others that the color-predicting company is crazy about - this one is a hold-over from fall, 2011,  called BAMBOO - as seen in the illustrations to the left.
Bamboo - Mustard yellow has made its way into high fashion and interior design once again. A popular color of the ‘60s and ‘70s, it’s back and in a very chic way.
