It's Scott's Antique Market Weekend!

It is the second weekend of the month which means that it is Scott's Antique Market weekend in Atlanta link billed as the world's largest indoor antique market - and I believe it.  My friend, Bette, and I  are now monthly regulars.  I came with the plan to purchase some more Annie Sloan Chalk Paints since I am low on my primary color - old white - and wanted to add to my color collection.  I have seven (yes, SEVEN) chairs in my garage waiting to be painted so I really did need this paint.

I love the energy of Scott's and how informative a trip through the aisles really can be - particularly in gauging decorating styles and trends (there is a LOT of selling going on at this market).  We found many mirrored as well as metallic pieces (see my recent blog on metallic paints).

We spent some time at a vendor's booth - Altered Furniture Design (unable to validate website).  They made amazing furniture from church pews.  We thought this was a great idea and the results were incredible!

I did eventually meander over to the Annie Sloan Chalk Paint vendor and bought three cans of the paint:  Old White, Old Ochre and Paris Grey (I have already opened two out of three and started using but I am saving that story for another post).  As always, I did look for inspiration throughout the market and saw a lot of painted, chalk paint and others,  furniture and other items.  I don't think I will have any trouble using the paints.

In addition to the paints, I bought two elongated metal and mirror sculptures for my foyer which I am redoing to make way for an oversized iron and wood door we have purchased for this space.  I was looking for something to hang on each side of the door that didn't overshadow it and didn't create too much disharmony with the large number of art pieces and mirrors I already have in this space.  I found these two star-like pieces in an interesting booth; took photos; send a picture of Bette holding one to give my husband a sense of scale and size; and, actually got a response from him - in addition to "how much", he said "I think they would look nice"!  So SOLD!

Another great day at the sale although with each succeeding visit, I am spending more money which may be a dangerous trend!
